Landscaping, Sod, & Drainage Project in Broken Arrow, OK
Every yard has a story, and this one in Broken Arrow deserves telling. Here are two recent projects 413 Lawns performed for one of our customers, along with the problems we solved and what stood out to us on the job.
Project 1: Fixing a Soggy Backyard with a French Drain and Fescue Sod
Services: French drain installation, regrading, topsoil, fescue sod installation, front yard lawn remake
The Problem
After heavy rain, water was sitting in this homeowner's backyard and not going anywhere. The original topsoil stayed muddy, and grass could not grow. The yard had turned into more of a pool than a place to relax.
What We Did
Installed a French drain. A French drain gives standing water somewhere to go, so it moves away from the problem area instead of settling in the soil.
Regraded the yard with fresh topsoil. We reshaped the surface and brought in new topsoil so the ground could shed water properly and support a healthy lawn.
Laid fescue sod. We finished the backyard with fescue sod for a clean, full, green look.
Gave the front yard a full makeover. The front yard got the same fescue treatment, so the whole property looks consistent from the street to the back fence.
What Stood Out
The soil under the backyard was extremely compacted. Water from earlier rain had been sitting on it for a long time, which is a big part of why nothing would grow. Once the French drain was in, the water finally drained the way it should. The homeowner no longer has to deal with a backyard that looks like a pool after every storm, and they told us they appreciated the communication throughout the project.
Project 2: A Flower Bed Makeover and Memorial Garden
Services: Flower bed cleanup and redesign, plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees, landscape fabric, pine bark mulch
The Problem
The flower beds had become overgrown, with weeds and brush taking over. The homeowner wanted a fresh, clean look, and she also had a deeper reason for the project. She wanted a garden that would serve as a memorial to her late husband.
What We Did
Cleared the overgrowth. We removed the weeds and brush to start with a clean slate.
Planted new plants, shrubs, flowers, and trees. We chose a mix that gives the beds color, structure, and height.
Installed landscape fabric. The fabric helps keep weeds from coming back through, so the beds stay cleaner for longer.
Finished with rich pine bark mulch. The mulch gives the beds a polished look and helps hold moisture in the soil.
What Stood Out
This job was about more than landscaping. The homeowner was very happy with the result, and the neighbors noticed right away and were impressed by the new look. It was a privilege for our team to help bring this dedication to life.
Common Questions About Drainage and Flower Bed Projects
Can you fix standing water in my yard? In many cases, yes. Standing water usually comes from grading problems, compacted soil, or nowhere for the water to go. After looking at your property, we can recommend a fix such as a French drain, regrading, or both.
Why is grass not growing in my muddy backyard? Constantly wet, compacted soil starves grass roots of air. Fixing the drainage first, then regrading and adding fresh topsoil and sod or seed, gives the new lawn a real chance to grow.
Do you install fescue sod in Broken Arrow? Yes. We install fescue sod for front and back yards. If you are not sure which grass fits your yard, we can talk through the options when we visit.
Can you redo overgrown flower beds? Yes. We clear the beds, plant new shrubs, flowers, or trees, add landscape fabric to help control weeds, and finish with mulch.
